about mourning partners

After losing a number of my close family members within a short period, I became more aware of the phenomenon of grieving, and began to empathize more with all those going through loss.  I collect worn-out secondhand wearables like shoes and jackets which are experiencing separation from their previous circumstances. I imagine their past lives and develop an awareness of their vulnerability as I process my own grief.

My work-in-progress Mourning Partners Project is about mindfully participating in our sharing of inevitable griefs. I photograph portraits of the painted wearables and place them in various settings as an individual or a group, to process my deeper understanding of our common human condition.
